On the 12th of August 2024, Sime Group facilitated yet another impactful Resource Sorter training session in picturesque Queenstown. The workshop saw the participation of nine dedicated professionals from Naylor Love Construction Company, eager to deepen their understanding of sustainable waste management practices. This training session marked another success in Sime Group's efforts to champion a waste-free New Zealand by 2040.
Participants delved into the intricacies of the Waste Hierarchy, a framework designed to minimize waste and promote resource efficiency. Through engaging discussions and practical exercises, the attendees explored innovative ways to re-use and recycle construction waste materials. From turning concrete debris into new aggregate products to repurposing timber into furniture or biofuel, the session ignited creativity and inspired fresh perspectives on waste management.
The training emphasized the importance of prioritizing reduction and re-use before resorting to recycling. It showcased how these strategies not only reduce the environmental impact of construction waste but also drive economic value by transforming discarded materials into viable products. The goal remains clear: to contribute toward New Zealand's ambitious vision of achieving a waste-free nation by 2040.
This session further solidified Sime Group's reputation as a pioneer in sustainability-focused facilitation, empowering the construction industry to embrace environmentally responsible practices.
