On the 25th August 2023, Sime Group in partnership with Naylor Love Construction celebrated the milestone Resource Sorter’s very first certificate ceremony.
Under the leadership of Annie Day (the Group Environmental Manager) from Naylor Love, Annie developed a NZQA micro-credential Level 2 (5 credit) equivalent for resource sorting in partnership with Sime Group and contracted Sosefo Sime – the Managing Director of Sime Group as the independent facilitator.
At its first intake, there were two from NZ Labour Exchange, Marc and Maria followed by Brydon and Dale from Naylor Love. The provocative impact of the course on the intellectual awareness of all the participants convincingly attract more employers to the resource sorter course and consequently reflective in the third intake - 5 from NZ Labour Exchange.
This includes: Vivien, Yusuf, Abdul, Estelia, Susan. From Naylor Love: Waisake and Edwin, and Tracy from Watts and Hughes.
All participants were invited to the Naylor Love Construction Site at Lynton Road, Mt Wellington for the certificate ceremony.
Sime Group members were all there and we were blessed with the presence of Annie Day from Naylor Love to hand out the certificates, Tanya Browne (Waste Planning Advisor (initiatives), Waste Solutions | Infrastructure & Environmental Services) from Auckland Council who graced us with her inspiring words and affirmation for the work that we have started and will continue to offer.
Trudy Atherton from www.buildingoutwaste.co.nz and www.buildersbase.co.nz helped us with media on the day, capturing photos and special moments of the ceremony. She also helped to get our new website online www.resourcesorter.co.nz where you can find out about the training we offer, our goals and find feedback from past participants.
The evening ended with a word of thanks from the managing director of Sime Group – Sosefo Sime and some lovely island food generously prepared by AJ gatherer.
We hope to see many more people from around New Zealand receiving their certificates over the coming years.
